Last evening I attended my final Tuscarora High School Lacrosse Banquet (as a player). The evening was bittersweet as I know I will miss my friends and family when I leave for East Carolina University in just a few short months. At the banquet I was awarded with the Frederick County Outstanding Sportsmanship Award for 2015. I was very honored to receive this award, as I know many of my team members were very deserving as well.

Countdown to Graduation
My senior year has been the most amazing year of my life. I have had the opportunity to push myself athletically, academically and service wise. I am excited to see what my future has in store. In a few short months I will be headed into a new chapter of my life. I will become a freshman at East Carolina University. I am looking forward my next step forward, but am going to enjoy every moment before I leave for school. I plan on spending time with family and friends over the summer. I wish every 2015 graduate the best of luck. Always remember to keep reaching for your dreams – they will be achievable with dedication and hard work! Alex
2015 Happenings
December 11, 2014 – Indoor Track Invitational
November 8, 2014 – Maryland 3A State Meet
With a time of 16:56:4, I placed 8th in the Maryland 3A state meet – and was the top finisher in the county. My time was 40 seconds better than when I ran this course earlier this year. I am proud of my accomplishment and my high school Cross Country career. As I look back over the past 3 years of running this exact course my time improved over 2 minutes. Hard work and dedication pays off! My high school Cross Country career is over, but I am so excited to see what college Cross Country will bring me!
For those wondering what “Alex Paddison” will be doing after Cross Country is over, my answer is – high school Indoor Track to accomplish some new PR times and help our team go to states again this year, a couple local 5K and 10K races, playing on a recreation basketball league, finish out the year academically strong and volunteering at the local homeless shelter.
October 30, 2014 – Maryland 3A West Regional
October 26, 2014 – Marine Corp Marathon – 10K
I ran in one of the most amazing races today – The Marine Corp Marathon 10K race. I was running in memory of my Uncle Dennis who served in Vietnam. The experience was absolutely AWESOME. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky the entire day.
I was proud of my place and time. I placed 1st in my age group and 9th overall out of 7629 runners!!! My time was 35:45 with a pace of 5:45. My family also ran in the race – my brother finished 8th in his age group and 149th overall, I was so proud of him! My mom and step dad finished the race with some pretty impressive times as well.
I would like to just say “Thank You to all those who serve our country! It was an honor to run with you today”!!
October 23, 2014 – FCPS Championship
Counties at Old National Pike, a decently hilly course! But honestly, I think I prefer hilly courses because we mainly train for those during practices. Anyways, I think I actually had a little bit left in me at the end, maybe if I pushed a little bit harder I could have got one place better. I ended up in 5th place this year – one place better than last year.
October 17, 2014 – MVAL Conference Championships
Today was one of the flattest course I’m going to experience during the season! Last year this course was my best time ever for a 5K! This year it was my season best as well. It is all coming down to the state meet, that is where my training is going now. I have to train through the next 2 meets and then it’s the “real deal”!
October 5, 2014 – Carroll Manor Cross Country
I had a great time being the “rabbit” at the Carroll Manor Cross Country meet today! It was awesome being around such an energetic atmosphere. The kids were well prepared and excited to run! I have been working with my team to prepare for this race and it was incredible to see their results. Many runners had their personal best times. There is so much potential in these kids. I hope each and every one makes running a life long passion.
